Location: Register for Zoom Webinar

Join us in welcoming Walidah Imarisha to speak at WOU about Oregon Black history, and the history of race, identity, and power in the Northwest.

On 2/16/2022, the WOU Board resolved that “WOU will respond in authentic, visible, and meaningful ways” to the concerns of our BIPOC students as expressed in the Sincerely video. Starting at 5:22 minutes, our students specifically express concerns about the integration of Black History into the curriculum here at WOU.

This presentation by Imarisha will be an important step in addressing those concerns. On Friday, May 13th, Chelle Batchelor, Dean of Library and Academic Innovation, will host WOU faculty and Dr. Imarisha in one or two follow-up sessions to brainstorm integrating Black History into the WOU curriculum.
